The Art of Public Relations

By: Hannah Rolak

I remember walking into our (now old) office my first day at Olive. One of the very first things I noticed was the amazing collection of beautiful artwork hanging on the walls. (And no, I didn’t see them during my in-person interview, since I was too nervous being in the presence of super badass women/hopeful future co-workers.) The walls were adorned with colorful acrylic paintings and light-exposure photographs – a unique array of designs as distinct at the Olives’ personalities, from bright and bold to understated yet powerful.

Jenn is an avid art collector, and this passion overflows into our office space as well. I love walking into work every morning surrounded by visual inspiration, whether a vivid abstract piece or an inspirational saying pictured in nature. It brings an energy in the office that is both uplifting and grounding at the same time.

When you think about it, the paintings are parallel to the work we do at Olive. Our clients open up and share their stories with us, a privilege we cherish, and we use colorful story angles to illuminate the work they do. A good painting, just like a good pitch, captures the imagination with layers and depth, each word or brushstroke placed with purpose. Though the finished product can be interpreted in different ways and elicit an array of emotions, there’s no doubt one can appreciate the ample effort that went into its creation and expression.
